Who is responsible

This site is run by Donald Coleman. You can reach him by email at contact@doncoleman.ca or through the contact form.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies, including through its visitor statistics. The only thing kept in your browser is your theme choice (light or dark). It stays in local storage on your device and is never sent to this site. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Visitor statistics

The main site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and does not track individuals. It counts page views and where visits come from, without identifying anyone. Preview versions of the site do not use it.

Hosting

Cloudflare serves the pages of this site. To do that, Cloudflare processes standard request information, such as your IP address.

The contact form

The contact form collects only what you type into it: your name, your email address, an optional organization, your message and, if you arrived from a project page, the name of that project. It is used to reply to you and for nothing else. It is never sold, rented or shared with anyone for marketing.

When you send the form, Cloudflare’s email service sends it to Don as an email. The email then sits in his mailbox with his mail provider. This site stores nothing: it keeps no copy of your message in a database, a file or a log.

Your IP address is not stored and is not used to limit how often you can send. It is still passed to the human-check service described under spam protection below.

Questions about a post

Each writing post has a button that gives you a few questions to think about before you read it. When you press it, this site asks an AI model on Cloudflare Workers AI to write the questions. Only the public text of the post itself is sent to the model. Nothing about you is sent, and this site stores no information about you for this feature: no cookies, no account and no record of who asked.

The questions for each version of a post are kept in the site’s Cloudflare D1 database so the next reader gets them without another request to the model. The database also holds one site-wide counter of how many sets of questions were written, which is how the site stays within its daily limit. A post’s saved questions are replaced when the post changes.

Cloudflare, as the host of this site, handles every request, including your IP address, in its own platform logs and security systems. Those are outside this site’s control and this site does not read them. The questions feature collects no personal data.

The self-assessment

The self-assessment in the Wayfinder post runs only in your browser. This site never receives or stores your answers or scores. If you copy a results link, it holds your scores in the page address after the # sign, so anyone you share that link with can see them.

Spam protection

Sending the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated submissions. It loads when you start filling in the form and receives your IP address and the browser and device signals its own script collects, plus a one-time token. No form field is sent to it. It sets no tracking cookies. Read Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum for how Cloudflare handles that information.

Security

Every page and every form submission travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). This site does not store your IP address, as described under the contact form above.

Your choices

Don keeps contact emails only as long as needed and deletes one on request. To ask what is held about you, or to have your message deleted, send a new message through the contact form or email contact@doncoleman.ca. I answer within 30 days. Ticking the consent box on the form is your agreement to this use. You can withdraw it at any time by asking for your message to be deleted.

Deleting a message covers all copies Don holds, including those in his deleted-items folder. His mail provider’s backups follow the provider’s own terms.

If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can also contact your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not meant for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information about them.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
